Game 1 was a double elimination bracket style tournament of HALO3 ODST of 4 player teams that went head to head at Gillette Stadium for a winner takes all battle. The event featured NFL Superstars Jerod Mayo and Gary Guyton who were excited to participate and co-host in the tournament. (Nov 2009)
Game 2 was no other than Call of Duty Modern Warefare 2. The venue of choice was at F1 Racing in Braintree. Where not only did players participate in the tournament they also had the opportunity to race and game against New England Patriot Jerod Mayo. (April 2010)
The Massachusetts Army National Guard along with the Boston Celtics hosted a Black History Month event with students from English High School at the Celtics practice facility in Waltham. Students learned about key people and their roles within the Black History movement.
Boston Celtics players Kendrick Perkins, Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Sheldon Willams, Marquis Daniels, Brian Scalabrine, and Coach Doc Rivers were in attendance and helped run a trivia type game with the students and Guard Soldiers. This was a great interactive event were education, history, sports, and fun were all added to the evening. (Feb 2010)

Coming Soon (June 2010)
The Massachusetts National Guard would like to say congratulations to the high school students that were awarded the ‘Student-Athlete Citizenship Award’ on April 13th and 16th, 2010. The first ceremony was held at Northeastern University were the high schools on the eastern part of Massachusetts attended. The second ceremony was at Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield were the high schools from the western part of state attended. At both venues the top student athletes were recognized for their outstanding academics, athletic achievements, and community service participation. Our very own Brigadier General Sellars helped to mentor these students by giving a speech about his journey and about being a leader.
High School Player Development
The NFL and the National Guard teamed up to assist in this football training camp called High School Player Development or H.S.P.D. This program provides incoming high school sophomores through seniors a program that focuses on academic counseling, character development, and specific football skills training. Through HSPD, each participant will gain full awareness of what is necessary to become a successful student-athlete.
The Guard Experience is a gathering for citizens who are interested to learn out more about the National Guard. The evening is packed full of information about the many benefits of joining the Guard, in a no pressure environment. No obligation necessary to attend. Everyone who participates in the “Guard Experience” will receive a variety of items. They are usually held a local armory but we have had them at high-end venues such as Gillette Stadium. There are also additional bonuses for anyone who goes to take the ASVAB within a certain time period.
New Englands Patriot Jerod Mayo and his teammates came out by the dozens to support his first big charity event. Proceeds from the event went to benefit “Pitching in for Kids”.
The winner of this charitable tournament was our very own recruiter and Patriots players to include SFC Petrie, Teddi Bruschi, SFC Haley, SSG Santiago, Jerod Mayo, SGT Amaral, and Darrel Richard.
